Hostage Rescue Incident Debrief

Presentation Overview:

This presentation will provide a detailed look into a hostage rescue incident that occurred on March 25, 2004, where a suspect forces his way into the residence of his estranged girlfriend.  The woman flees the residence with her 3 year-old son, leaving behind her 1 year-old son.  The suspect keeps the 1 year-old hostage and threatens to kill the child as well as himself.  The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team responds.  Negotiations are attempted and despite attempts for a peaceful resolution, the suspect's actions force a hostage rescue entry and ultimately deadly force is used.
